EP #47 Megan Jayne Crabbe

Body Positive Power - making peace with your body

Episode #47

In Episode #47 on The Jen Mavros Show, ALL bodies are welcome here - all sizes, shapes, shades, ages, genders and abilities. Social Media Supa-star & Body Positive Best Selling Author and BOPO activist, Megan Jayne Crabbe [aka: @bodyposipanda] lights up our lives and joins us in this down to earth and illuminating conversation.

"We've been convinced that happiness is something that only comes once we hit that goal weight, get those washboard abs, shrink ourselves down and change every part of ourselves. We believe that our bodies are the problem, but this is not true. It's how we've been taught to see our bodies that's the problem... It's time for us all to stop believing the lies we've been fed about what it means to be beautiful, and take our power back.

Megan's body image issues began when she was five years old. She spent her childhood chasing thinness, and at fourteen found herself spiraling into anorexia. After recovery she spent years dieting, binging, losing and gaining weight. But then she found body positivity, quit dieting, and finally escaped the cult of thin. Now she's determined to let as many people as possible know the truth: that we are all good enough as we are. With her inimitable flair, whip-smart wit and kickass attitude, Megan argues for a new way of seeing ourselves, and a world where every body is celebrated. Where there is no such thing as a 'bikini body diet' and 97% of women don't hate the way they look."

Megan's work in the world is a powerful call to arms as much as it is inspirational and practical, this is an episode everyone can see themselves in. A must listen FO SHO!!

"you are not flawed. The way you've been taught to view your body is flawed. Wear your paint proudly, bopo warriors." -Megan

About Megan

Megan's body image issues began when she was 5 years old, and her early obsession with losing weight spiraled into anorexia nervosa by age 14. She spent 2 years in and out of residential psychiatric units, was hospitalized, and nearly lost her life, until she began recovery at 16. After several more years of hating her body and chasing thinness, she discovered the body positivity movement online, made peace with her body, and started her Instagram page @bodyposipanda to spread the body positive message.

She now teaches her 880,000+ followers how they can overcome their body image issues as well, has written a bestselling book on body positivity called Body Positive Power, and gives talks on body image in schools and at events across the country. She's also a full-time carer for her older sister, who has cerebral palsy, fitting all things body positive around that.
